Things to do in Hartbeespoort

Top Things to do in Hartbeespoort – Explore Our Lovely Town!

When visiting a new area, many people don’t plan activities or places to visit, but we strongly recommend that you know what your options are before arriving in Harties. The area has so much to offer that you are bound to feel spoiled for choice and you might just miss out on all of the lovely things to see in our little town.

Chances are that when staying at Villa Paradiso, Hartbeespoort’s very own luxury hotel, conference centre and wedding venue, you’ll be quite content just to enjoy your accommodation and surroundings. However, we always encourage our guests to take the time to explore the area, get involved in the various activities on offer and see the sights – the area really is one of South Africa’s hidden gems. If you are looking for things to do in Hartbeespoort during your stay, we have a few suggestions for you below:

  • Enjoy a 360° view of Pretoria, Johannesburg and Hartbeespoort Dam by going on a trip to the top of the Magaliesberg Mountain via cableway. Don’t forget your camera for this one – you’re going to want to snap a few shots of the amazing scenery on the way up and the magnificent view from the top.
  • Pay a visit to the Elephant Sanctuary and see elephants living in natural environments. The sanctuary is open 7 days a week and the ideal outing for a family.
  • Meet lion cubs, game view on quad bike and enjoy a pleasant horseback ride at the Ukutula Lion Park.  The park is designed to cater to all ages and really provides a wonderful insight to lions and how they live in the wild and captivity.
  • Get your adrenaline flowing with a visit to Arrow Rest, where outdoor activities abound. Here you can participate in paintball, go-karting, archery, mountain biking and more. This is great to do as a group or as a couple.
  • Enjoy luxury cruises along the Hartbeespoort Dam. These cruises are offered by a variety of operators and are typically 3 hours long.
  • Welwitschia Country Market in Schoemansville is a must-see. Here you can explore and browse through authentic African curious, trinkets and crafts. In the middle of the market, you will find the Pick-a-Pancake restaurant, which is great for a breakfast or lunch excursion. The setting is simply phenomenal.
  • Pay a visit to the Windmill. This Dutch restaurant is styled just like a windmill and offers a variety of lavish treats, and a menu jam-packed with personality and style. Want to taste South African treats with a difference? The Windmill is just the place to go.
  • Taste brandy and wine at Potstill Brandy & Wine Cellar in Schoemansville, just outside of Hartbeespoort. You can choose from a selection of award-winning wines and brandies.
  • Tube or white-water raft along the Crocodile River. This is definitely for adventure junkies who want to get out and about in the water and experience the true natural beauty of the surrounding area.

Of course, these are just a few of the things that you can get involved in when staying in the Hartbeespoort area. If you need further advice on any of these activities or places, simply get in touch with our reception staff members who will help you further.

Once you have explored and adventured to your heart’s content, return to the guest house / hotel for some rest, relaxation and some pampering. Our 53 standard rooms offer all of the comforts that you require, but if you want something a little more luxurious, you might enjoy our executive guest suite. All rooms at Villa Paradiso have a wonderful outlook over or across the manicured gardens. We also have a great on-site restaurant called La Rouge, where you can enjoy fine dining at its best. We serve predominantly European Cuisine, with a touch of African flavour – it’s a taste sensation that you simply cannot miss out on.
