Functions and Events in Hartbeespoort

Hartbeespoort Delights All Function and Event Guests

Everyone who hosts a function or event wants their day or evening to be perfect in all aspects, from the guest list, table settings, speakers, menu, food and décor, all the way through to the climate and venue; there is simply no better place than our luxurious establishment in Hartbeespoort, which ticks all of the boxes, right on the doorstep of Gauteng’s bustling towns and cities, but a world apart in atmosphere, beauty and features.

Besides atmosphere and beauty, what else sets Hartbeespoort village and its surrounding areas apart? One must begin by mentioning the people who are lucky enough to call this place home, and where fine functions, events and hospitality venues such as ours, are situated.

People Who Know How to Treat Visitors

Our people are warm, friendly, hospitable and well-accustomed to spoiling the tourists and visitors who flock to this part of the world, since the Hartbeespoort Dam and the multitude of attractions found here draw sightseers, day travellers and holiday makers from far and wide.

Equally Kind Climate

Hartbeespoort sits between the Bushveld and Highveld, in the dam basin, surrounded by and at the foot of the glorious unspoiled Magaliesberg Mountains, which offer protection from inclement elements and provide an unsurpassed, scenic backdrop.

Our climate is just as kind and friendly to visitors as our residents are said to be. The village atmosphere ensures that our guests feel right at home immediately, which means that they usually return as often as they can and often stay for longer than originally planned.

Summer days are hot, sometimes quite humid, whilst daytime in winter is warm and mild. In the heart of winter, nights may become chilly, but our accommodation and hospitality is so welcoming and warm that you will look forward to the setting sun.

The natural vegetation and magnificent sub-tropical gardens are a good reflection of the climatic conditions surrounding Hartbeespoort Dam and the surrounding area. On the approach to the dam from Johannesburg, the road winds through mountains and hills, covered with aloes which punctuate the season during winter months, proudly displaying their poker shaped orange blooms, a delight for avid landscape photographers.

Activities Aplenty

Whether you want to rest, relax and be spoiled or fancy an outdoor adventure, Harties, (the colloquial name for Hartbeespoort), is the place for you. The terrain and the area’s infrastructure are perfect for numerous leisure activities, and there are many on offer.

Often, guests attending events, conferences or functions at our venue choose to extend their stay and participate in some of the delights in our area, a few of which we have pleasure in listing.

  • Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary – globally, one of only eight free release bush baby and primate sanctuaries, privately owned and operated without subsidies, where exotic species live as they would in nature. Visitors are guided on walks through indigenous forest terrain in a kloof to see and learn about the creatures that live here.
  • Gerotek Training – either arrive in your own 4x4 vehicle or hire one on-site to test your off-road abilities across tough terrain, over rocks and sand, through mud and water, for the ultimate challenge and excitement.
  • Aerial Cableway – recently restored and refurbished to the latest standards, view the dam and surrounding panoramas from a modern gondola on the way to the top of an ancient Magaliesberg Mountain, where a 1km nature walk, snack, light meal and beverage stalls, a curio shop or a refreshing cocktail await you.
  • Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre – (previously De Wildt Cheetah Centre), a world renowned captive breeding centre and rehabilitation sanctuary for these endangered big cats, where visitors learn more about cheetahs, up close. The centre also breeds and releases endangered African wild dogs, riverine rabbits, Cape vultures and Suni antelope.
